In November, 2006 Provincial Trailer Rentals was acquired by Lions Gate Trailers resulting in only the second national trailer rental company in Canada. Lions Gate Trailers with Rentals and Service facilities in Vancouver, Calgary and Edmonton is the largest Trailer Rental Company in Western Canada. Provincial Trailer Rentals has locations in Mississauga, Hamilton and Montreal. This greatly expands the services, equipment and locations we can provide to our customers.

Acquisition of Pixar Logistiques in Montreal

In January 2007, Provincial Trailer Rentals acquires the Trailer Rental and Leasing business of Pixar Logistiques in Montreal. Locations de Remorques Provincial is a significant presence in the Quebec market.

New Flat Decks added to the Rental Fleet in Mississauga

In February 2007, Provincial Trailer Rentals increases its fleet of Flat Decks in Mississauga. PTR now provides Highway, and Construction Platform trailers as well as Highway, City and Storage Vans.

PTR Acquires Leslie Trailer Sales in Mississauga

Provincial Trailer Rentals acquired the Storage Trailer business of Leslie Trailer Sales of Mississauga in March, 2007. This positions PTR as a provider of Storage, Load and Store solutions. Combined with our Container Rental and Storage business we can now provide Storage solutions for many customers.

2008 Great Dane Tridem and Tandem Vans added to the Rental Fleet

In April 2007, Provincial Trailer Rentals has taken delivery of a large supply of new 2008 53’ Great Dane Tandem and Tridem Dry Freight Vans for its Rental Fleet.

New Location in Kitchener

In June, 2007 Provincial Trailer Rentals acquired the Kitchener Branch of the Trailer Rental and Leasing business of Solo Truck and Trailer. Along with our facilities in Mississauga, and Hamilton, this provides our customers with trailers and services throughout the GTA. PTR opens two more dealers New Brunswick and the Eastern Townships

Lions Gate Trailers Ltd. and Provincial Trailer Rentals Announce Asset Purchase from GE Trailer Fleet Services Canada

March 12, 2010 - As part of their Canadian expansion, Vancouver based Lions Gate Trailers (LGT) and Mississauga based Provincial Trailer Rentals (PTR) have finalized the strategic purchase of certain assets of the Canadian branches of GE Canada Vehicle & Equipment Services, doing business as GE Trailer Fleet Services, and formerly known as TIP, - Effective March 2010, LGT will operate the former GE Trailer Fleet Services facilities in Winnipeg under the Lions Gate brand and integrate the balance of the six GE facilities into their existing Canadian network. A good percentage of the existing GE technicians will be employed by LGT/PTR. This purchase will expand the LGT/PTR trailer fleet to over 20,000 units and will include tandem and tridem trailers and chassis.

PTR had recently purchased the assets of GE’s Moncton, New Brunswick operation, which led to further discussions with GE .GE Trailer Fleet Services continues to operate a nationwide network of branches in the U.S. and Mexico. The additional human resources, new Winnipeg location and increased rolling stock positions LGT/PTR well in the lead as Canada’s premier supplier of trailer sales, rentals, storage and maintenance providers.

PTR will open a new dealer on August 1st 2010 in Chicoutimi

We are very happy to announce that as of August 1st 2010, we will have a new dealer, Centre de Suspension des Routiers Inc, located in Chicoutimi (QC). This new centre will be serving the great region of Saguenay – Lake St-Jean – North Coast.
